The historic Haggin Oaks Golf Complex in Sacramento, CA—the flagship store of National PGA Merchandiser of the Year award winner Morton Golf—includes two championship courses and the largest, most-awarded on-course golf course shop in the U.S. Morton Golf recently opted to add even more room to its massive Golf Super Shop, bringing it to an astounding 18,000 sq. ft. of retail space.
The Challenge
Adding square footage to the existing Haggin Oaks Golf Complex without disrupting the day-to-day retail operation as well as staying within an allotted expansion space presented challenges. Given that the expansion area was at the edge of a parking lot that operates 365 days a year and the addition was for a high-volume retail space, the project required extra-careful thought and planning.
A Hole-in-One Solution
Mobile Modular installed five new permanent modular buildings totaling 3500 square feet of retail and office space, designed to match the existing structure. The added space was opened via three doorways into the existing structure only after the added-on buildings’ interior had been fully completed, including fireproofing. The result is a new cutting-edge Player Performance Putter Fitting Studio, the highly-anticipated “Wall of Shoes” that features a 28-foot acrylic wall filled with 2000 recycled water bottles, and several build-outs featuring top golf footwear.
